I was drawn to the SMU-SID Directorship Programme due to its reputation for providing comprehensive training and development for aspiring directors. The programme’s focus on strategic leadership, governance, and decision-making aligns perfectly with my career aspirations to advance into senior leadership roles. Additionally, the opportunity to learn from industry experts and network with peers from diverse backgrounds greatly appealed to me.
The decision to participate in the programme was largely influenced by a not-for-profit Directorship role that I had taken on which was something out of my current comfort zone. The urgency to understand and put into practice areas such as fiduciary responsibilities, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective board stewardship, which are crucial for ensuring accountability and sustainability in nonprofit operations was fundamental for me.

With a diverse group of aspiring and current directors who were passionate in deepening their understanding of the roles of directors and future proofing ourselves, we all came out of the programme a lot more confident and well equipped. About the SMU-SID Directorship Programme
The programme is a collaboration between Singapore Management University and Singapore Institute of Directors to empower board directors to be champions of good governance. It is the only local directorship training programme leading to the SID Accredited Director status with exam exemption.
