Hospital Management Programme

Overview

In SMU's Hospital Management Programme, the theme is "Sustainable and Transformative Healthcare for Tomorrow," where we will explore current trends, AI integration, and sustainability for the healthcare industry. 

Utilising bespoke Asian case studies, specifically crafted for this programme, we provide a contextual and immersive learning experience, ensuring participants gain practical insights and actionable knowledge to navigate the future of healthcare effectively.

Over four days, participants will learn of sustainable strategies, operational efficiency, technology and innovation, and community, wellness & advocacy in the healthcare industry. Faculty and industry experts will address emerging healthcare challenges and guide participants toward value-based solutions.

Learning Objectives

  • To provide hospital administrators/clinicians in Asia Pacific with a balanced curriculum in healthcare management to meet the pressing need for trained healthcare professionals who can effectively manage hospitals and community care centers.
  • To examine cutting-edge management tools in the planning, marketing, financing and delivery of healthcare services.
  • To provide senior healthcare executives an environment to share experience and build a reliable network with peers from the region.
  • To support the development of responsible leaders in Asian healthcare who are able to serve their patients from all societal strata.

Topics/Structure

Participants will explore crucial topics on advocating healthcare policies and sustainable healthcare models that will empower decision makers to foster long-term viability for hospitals. 

Key tools for strategic analysis will be taught to help participants develop transformative and sustainable strategies that enhances healthcare quality while managing costs effectively. 

Participants will discover the keys to optimising operational efficiency in healthcare and navigate the complexities of healthcare supply chain management to explore resilient-building strategies. 

Participants will also conduct root cause analysis and identify areas for quality improvement, and process excellence to enhance patient care.

Healthcare leaders and hospital administrators need to understand how to merge financial advancements in order to innovate and improve patient outomes to achieve long term financial viability. 

This session will provide insights in managing resources more effectively, whilst controlling healtcare costs and providing quality medical care. A challenge in motion is also in place where participants will embark on a site visit to experience real world applications.

The final day of the programme will see participants discussing on the topics of community-based interventions and preventive healthcare strategies, aimed at addressing local health needs and to promote healthier lifestyles. 

The programme will end with a panel discussion, where participants will hear from healthcare leaders on the catalytic role of leadership in healthcare where leaders play a pivotal role to enhance patient outcomes and optimise healthcare delivery.

Who Should Attend

The programme is designed for–

  • Senior hospital executives in both clinical and non-clinical functions with at least 10 years of professional experience.
  • Clinicians moving into administrator roles benefit the most, as well as
  • Experienced administrators who want to refresh their managerial and leadership repertoire with the latest management thinking. 

English language proficiency is required.
