SMU Executive Development played a part in Indonesia's Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) workshop "Executive Course: Becoming the Hospital of Choice" for healthcare leaders on Tuesday, 4 August 2026.
Singapore Management University (SMU) Vice President, Professional & Continuing Education Patrick Lau shared powerful insights on Customer-Centricity for Hospitals, reframing how healthcare institutions can put patients at the heart of every decision.
Senior Deputy Director and Head of Commercial Dr Flocy Joseph followed suite by exploring Purpose-Driven Healthcare Leadership, inspiring the Indonesian leaders to lead with meaning, clarity, and impact.
Officially opened by Indonesia's Minister of Health Budi Sadikin, he set out a bold vision and inspiring vision for the future of the nation's public hospitals during the workshop.
He challenged healthcare leaders to build healthcare institutions that are not only the provider of choice for Indonesians, but also trusted destinations for patients from around the world.
Beyond delivering quality care, he called on hospitals to become leading centres for medical education and research, and to nurture a culture of mentorship, where knowledge and expertise are continuously shared to strengthen Indonesia's healthcare capabilities for generations to come.
His message was a powerful reminder that transforming healthcare demands visionary leadership, institutional excellence, and an unwavering commitment to developing people alongside systems.
